2025 Vancouver Island Wildfires
In 2025, the BC Wildfire Service responded to 1,350 wildfires that burned 886,360 hectares across the province. In its annual summary, fifteen fires were identified as notable events, three of which occurred on Vancouver Island — representing one-fifth of the province’s most significant fires, but only a fraction of the total wildfires in the province and total area burnt:

July 29 — Bear Creek (Strathcona area): 224 ha

July 31 — Wesley Ridge (Nanaimo area): 588 ha

August 11 — Mount Underwood (Ladysmith area): 3,518 ha
